I remember Marv from our two years in the North High Singers.  If I remember correctly, he had a '62 Chevy with a 409.  I thought it was pretty cool because of the Beach Boy's song.  He was the DJ at one of our reunions. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.  His passing must have really been a shock.  We think of such heart surgery as generally not a big risk.

I remember way back when in the 7th grade Marvin and I would go down on Broadway and 16th St. and sit on the curb and watch all the hot rods drive thru a restaurant like a Sonic.  It was a place where the hot rodders would come to just so they could turn around and head back to Douglas.  The cars were amazing and they stirred our imaginations to own a rod.  In the 9th grade his dad bought a 1962 SS Impala with a 409 4speed.  Imagine that.  I knew his brother Larry.  Larry and Marvin and I all worked at White Truck Sales on N. Broadway  Marvin and Mike Fatkins built race cars after graduation.

Its unfortunate that Marvin died from a routine procedure at Wesley.  Wesley has had some success stories when it comes to the cardiology department but overall they get a failing grade for all their problems.  Why does Wesley and the VA send patients with heart related problems to Oklahoma City?  Because their Cardiology deoartment in Okla.is advanced with a impeccable reputation.  I would certainly do my home work before going to Wesley to have a complicated procedure such as a by-pass.  Im living on a 20 year old by-pass.  I also have 5 stints due to the fact that the old stints have collapsed and had to be reopened with new stints inserted.  I travel to Houston TX.  whenever i need a tune up.

RIP Marvin

Losing Marvin was a bit of shock to me...geez, I remembet his 409 Chevy driving up and down Rochester.  What a character he was, full of life, color, adventure and always a smile with excitment in his personality.  I will miss you Marvin.  We always talked cars.  Loved you man!  Tim

I am so sorry and surprised to hear about Marv’s  passing! He was one of my best friends during my years at North, and we were avid  car enthusiasts during those years and during the remainder of the years that I spent in Wichita. We were not able to stay in as close contact as both of us would have  liked  during the years I was away from Wichita, but fortunately We did get to spend time together after my return to Wichita. Considering some of the things that we did together  throughout the years, we were both probably pretty lucky to have survived our teenage years, and I’m sure a lot of us can relate to that!   We had a great time double dating during our late teens also, and Paula and I will never forget those memories. I look forward to hearing about scheduled services for Marv, and hope to be able to be present for those.

Rest in peace, Marv, I love you!

Many classes Marvin would sit in front or behind me if we were set alphabetically. He was always so nice to me. Prayers for his family,

Marvin and I spent a great deal of time together in the late 60's before I joined the Navy.Marvin got me a job at White truck working for his brother Larry, another prince of a guy. Marvin and I would eat breakfast at a little cafe at 21 street and Market,2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast and coffee $1.25 We worked together in the day time and the party started after work.I can tell Marvin stories all day, once Marvin,Larry, and myself went to the drag races in Tulsa,we left Wichita late after work we were in the 62 Chevy of Marvins but by this time it had a small block engine. We pulled into the parking lot and drank beer like they were going to quite selling it. We finally went to sleep in the car and woke up when it was daylight the parking lot was still empty. We are all going for our tooth brushes and have no water,so we brushed our teeth with BEER. What a way to start the day!                    Marvin had such a quick wit,he would fold me up with some of his sayings,I still remember some of them but I don't dare repeat them here.I always admired Marvin because he knew what he wanted to become, and that was a mechanic, and he was a darn good one. So sorry you had to leave us,but you will not be forgotten.RIP Your old buddy Danny
