Michael H. Rice

( July 24, 1947 - March 22, 2022 )

Michael Harry Rice, 74, of Wichita Kansas, passed away at St. Francis Via Christi,  on March 22, 2022.

Mike was born in Wichita, Kansas,  July 24, 1947,  to Elmo and Demis Erhard Rice. Two years later, sister Carolyn was born.

In their junior year of high school, Mike met Pat while dragging Douglas, and the rivalry between North High and Wichita Heights began.

After graduation Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marines,  where he served for 6 years.

On December 21, 1968, he married Pat, and they were blessed with two children, Angela and Darrin. They moved their young family to Park City, otherwise known as, “The PC.” As the kids grew up,  Mike enjoyed attending school activities and watching them play soccer and softball.

Mike worked as a Traffic Manager retiring from Atofina, and later Lubrication Engineers in 2013.

Outside of his family, Mike's greatest passion was cars! From working on cars, to rebuilding them or attending car shows across the US.

Mike is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat, daughter Angie (Dan), son Darrin (Amber and Easton), grandchildren Indy, Maxx, Ashley, Dylan and Kylee, sister Carolyn, brother-in-law Larry (Terri) and nieces, nephews and cousins. 

We know in Heaven, that all of Mike’s cars have been fully restored, washed, and the oil changed, and gas is again 19 cents a gallon.
