Linda Swain Cushenbery’s Mother, Maxine Swain (also mother-in-law Of Gary Cushenbery, classmate and husband of Linda), passed away on January 14th. Her services are set for Tomorrow, January 21, at 2 pm, Old Mission Mortuary, 3424 E 21st. Visitation will be at 1 pm. Please keep them in your thoughts....


I'm sharing news for Kay Nutting Collier and Bryan Collier, classmates, respectively daughter and son-in-law, who lost Kay's mother, "Bea".   Please note the obituary and her title "Darling of the Diamond", earned during her fast-pitch softball career in the 40s and 50s.   I know you will keep Kay and Bryan and their family in your loving thoughts, prayers, and support.  

Nutting, Beatrice J. "Bea" 97, died Jan. 5, 2019, at Wichita Presbyterian Manor. She was born and raised in Dearing, KS. In the '40's and '50's, Bea was a pitcher for women's fast-pitch softball teams in both Chicago and Wichita, where she earned the nickname "Darling of the Diamond". She was also a bowler, a quilter, and a fan of University of Kansas basketball and the Chicago Cubs. She was preceded in death by her husband;William D. Nutting, her parents; Charles and Bessie Beam, son in-law; Richard Spurgeon, and 11 siblings. She is survived by daughters; Kay (Bryan) Collier, and Carol Spurgeon, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Visitation from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Cochran Mortuary, and a memorial service will be held in the Wichita Presbyterian Manor Chapel at 2:00 P.M. both on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019. A memorial has been established with the Good Samaritan Fund at Wichita Presbyterian
