I actually did not know Grant while we were both at North.  Interestingly enough we ran into each other later on life after I moved to Kanas City.  Grant and his wife at the time were attending a church small home group.  After meeting Grant we figured out we both graduated from North the same year.

While attending the bible study our group decided to take a canoe trip in southern Missouri.  I remember the water was fast and high that year because of recent rains and Grant got stranded in swift waste deep water.  I told him to hold his ground and I would come out and reach my hand out to him and pull him out.  Well, I did, I pulled him out, and as I did that Grant pulled me in!  Fortunately I was wearing a life jacket and I just leaned back and said I will see you down stream.  The bible study broke up and I did not see Grant again.  I am sorry to hear about his death.  He was a fine man.
